About EUCARPIA 18th General Congress
The final aim of breeders is to develop new improved varieties. Consequently, the congress aims to review state-of-the-art methodologies and techniques for breeding new varieties with a focus on the present and foreseeable needs. Because the objectives and tools of breeding and the methods used are very diverse, topics to be addressed include: (i) modern approaches to the conservation of genetic resources and prebreeding, (ii) improvement of breeding methods and techniques and their practical application to breeding for higher yield, (iii) resistance to stresses and improvement of quality, (iv) the evaluation and release of breeding material, (v) the implications of intellectual property rights in breeding programmes, and (vi) the public perception of plant breeding and biotechnology, all of this taking sustainability into consideration.
We invite researchers, scientists, breeders, and specialists involved or interested in the broad field of plant breeding to attend the 18th EUCARPIA General Congress.
