Development of rootstocks for vegetable grafting

GRAFTINGGrafting consists in culturing a plant using the roots of another, and is a technique used mainly for the culture of plants that are sensitive to the pathogens that damage roots onto genotypes that are resistant. In our group, we evaluated germplasm in order to select materials resistant to Meloidogyne incognita and/or Phytopthora capsici and develop rootstocks. Compatibility and agronomic performance studies of grafted plants are included in the characterization of developed rootstocks. These studies were carried out mainly in pepper and eggplant.
